A Suicide Squad movie with some heart
Thunderbolts*
Director: Jack Schreier
Writers: Eric Pearson & Joana Calo
When this movie was announced, I wondered how the MCU would handle a suicide squad. I'm so impressed with how they did, actually. The only small issue is that it should've been a little longer. The action is grounded and well executed; it's different than Suicide Squad. The humor isn't absurd but situational. The best part is the emotional quotient of the film; it revolves around Yelena and Bob and their past and how they are going through life. We also get a good look at Walker and Valentina's struggle as well. Florence Pugh & Lewis Pullman are phenomenal; they ace everything they're doing in the movie. It was amazing.
I did feel that some characters are too good in the film, but then some were left just to be there. But it's still such a good film; I honestly can't believe this is a Marvel film. Jack Schreier's done a really good job executing Eric Pearson & Joana Calo's brilliant screenplay.
It was truly refreshing.
