Metro..In Dino(2025)

Directed by Anurag Basu

Writers: Sandeep Shrivastava, Samrat Chakravarthy & Anurag Basu

Metro... In Dino deals with relationships and their problems in all of the age demographics; it covers everything from infidelity, commitment issues, finding the right partner, and modern dating to ambitions. I'm gonna start with Pritam; he's a genius, an absolute genius. He not only composed one of the best albums of the year, but he also composed the background music of the film that genuinely elevates the film. Anurag Basu's ability to blend the songs and music with the screenplay really made this film special. This is a connected anthology film that really gives time to flesh out the situations and the relationships between the characters, which is why it works so well. It also understands the true meaning of a romcom; it generates genuine laughs, the comedy is situational as well, and the dramatic moments are as good as it gets. Anurag Basu himself, with Abishek Basu, has done the cinematography of the film, and it's stunning; it's literally mesmerizing to look at; each frame is done to perfection. The trio of Pritam, Papon, and Raghav Chaitanya singing anywhere and everywhere just puts a smile on your face and makes you believe that it's their world and the other characters are playing to their beats. The performances are incredible, Aditya Roy Kapur is fabulous, he's so comfortable and at ease with this character that it feels like he's just having a ball, while Sara Ali Khan, Ali Faizal, Fatima Sana Sheikh and Swastik Chaterjee lends good support, Neena Gupta on her personal journey and exploring the what could've been is dreamy, Anupam Kher so comfortably shines so much in the little moments, and Konkona Sen Sharma probably is the top performer of this ensemble, watch out for a confrontation scene with Neena Gupta, it's so raw and emotional that she deserves all the awards, her chemistry with Pankaj Tripathi( who's at his usual witty Avatar) is so good and funny, it's incredible.

I almost missed this film in the theaters too. Take my advice, watch it in theaters. Take your family, your friends, and your loved ones, or go alone if you want; this film feels like a product of love. It starts strong and builds up to something so good that you leave the theater smiling. Anurag Basu is one of the most fabulous filmmakers of our time, and we all need to acknowledge it.
