I was not expecting this movie to be this carefully crafted. The best thing about this movie is its characters and how meticulously they're written. The lead, Surjan, has his traumas; the ongoing thriller runs smoothly; and the side characters have real motives and help the plot move further. The film is emotionally charged. Zoya Akhtar and writer-director Reema Kagti made sure that the story unfolds subtly and slowly, making it a really good slow-burn thriller. The album by Ram Sampath is amazing; every song matches the vibe of the film and fits perfectly with the screenplay. The mellow dark nights of Mumbai are captured beautifully. The cast is star-studded; Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Rajkumar Rao are dependable as always, and Aamir Khan perfectly plays the tough cop and the man dealing and suffering with his own traumas. He's one of the few actors that makes you cry when he's crying. While Rani Mukherjee lends great support, Kareena Kapoor just takes your breath away. She shares some of the best scenes with Aamir Khan, truly the highlight of the film.
This is one of the better-made thrillers of Bollywood. It deserves more attention and love. If you like slow burns, do not miss this!!!!
